What is the knowledge about Regulator Outlet Connectors?

Regulator outlet connectors allow you to connect flow meters, hoses and manifolds to the regulator's outlet ports. They are available in a variety of sizes and materials to match your application. They are oxygen compatible and Nitrox ready.

The primary operating components in a gas pressure regulator include the pressure reducing or restrictive element (most often a spring loaded poppet valve), the sensing element (typically a diaphragm or piston) and a reference force element that sets the delivery pressure set point, most often a mechanical spring. The adjusting knob on most regulators allows the user to change the outlet pressure by changing the force of the reference spring.
If the supply pressure drops below the regulator's set-point, the spring force pushes the poppet away from the valve seat and additional fluid is allowed to flow from the inlet to the outlet until the two forces reach a balance point at the regulator's set-point. This is what is known as hysteresis.

When connecting a new regulator to a gas cylinder, it is important to back off the adjustment control knob before applying supply pressure and to gradually turn on the supply line so as not to "shock" the regulator with a sudden rush of pressurized fluid. This will prevent damage to the internal components of the regulator and may cause the internal relief valve to activate prematurely.

Flexible metallic connectors (pigtails, hogtails) that are used to connect the regulator to the tank fitting are available in a variety of lengths and pre-bent options to meet your specific application. It is important not to kink or tangle these flexible connectors as this can restrict the flow of vapor, create a place for debris to collect and increase the chance of a leak from the regulator.
